Tommy Wade, RA
Architect
From visits around Washington, DC, Virginia, and Tennessee with his parents to explorations of New York City, Chicago, and San Francisco with his wife and children, Tommy has enjoyed the study of both history and architecture. Since graduating from the University of Tennessee School of Architecture over three decades ago, Tommy has become a very detail-oriented architectural planner. Like many architects, he loves studying and creating the forms of buildings, but he never wants to forget that buildings first and foremost must withstand the elements and challenges of everyday existence.
While Tommy has always been drawn to residential architecture in his free time, his career has frequently led him along the path of commercial architecture. He has worked on a large addition to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and several museum exhibitions in Memphis. He served as project manager on the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame and the Gray Fossil Site and Museum in East Tennessee, as well as several buildings, large and small, on the University of Tennessee Campuses in both Memphis and Knoxville. He has also worked on several retail centers, fairgrounds and exhibition buildings, professional office buildings, climate-controlled storage buildings, and movie theaters.
In his spare time, Tommy, his wife, and their three adult children enjoy traveling, exploring the Great Smokies Mountains, and kayaking. Tommy is a proud board member of the Friends of Seven Islands State Birding Park.
